Wareham Carnival takes place from Friday 4th to Sunday 6th July.
This year’s event includes performances from promising young local bands, a Gugge Festival with German, Swiss and British bands and a carnival and procession day.

Wareham Carnival: 4-6 July
Friday 4th July 2008
“Sound-Rec” a selection of young bands playing new music at the Recreation Ground Site. Gates open 6pm. Music starts 7pm. Entry by ticket £2, available from Farwells, North Street, Wareham.
The Longest Day
An alternative experimental rock band with their sights set on nothing less than world domination. Already gaining a strong following in their hometown they have since taken their unique mix of “Epic melodic technological rock” up and down the UK impressing crowds with a huge sound that takes you by complete surprise. The powerful heartfelt songs packed with meaningful lyrics and catchy hooks, coupled with an enigmatic live show makes this group a force to be reckoned with.

Gugge Festival day
For the uninitiated Gugge is brass and percussion based, popular in Germany, Switzerland and Poland, and treats all manner of tunes to a dash of vibrancy and good humoured irreverence.
It’s fun for all ages and this year there are 3 European bands as well as 2 British (including Bournemouth based Gugge 2000) playing around the town during the day and coming together for a Grand Concert at the Recreation Ground in the evening.
Gates open 4.30pm. Music begins 6.30pm. Entry by ticket £4, available from Farwells, North Street, Wareham.
Sunday 6th July 2008
The main Carnival Procession
Starting at 2pm through the town finishing at the Recreation Ground on Worgret Road with entertainment, including the Wareham Whalers, fairground, games including a ‘penalty shoot out’ for all ages - come and have a go and win prizes.
Plenty of refreshments available. Gates open on the Rec. at 12 noon.
