The festival is open to all pupils and the wider community and should be the perfect way to spend a warm summer’s evening.

The week’s events start with an exclusive screening of the superb documentary film We Are Together . This moving film portrays an orphanage in South Africa and the incredible journey taken by the children’s choir. Individual event tickets: £3 for adults, and £1 for pupils. Screening begins at 7pm.
Tuesday July 15, 2008
The very popular local swing band SUBB (Swing Unlimited Big Band ) will play on the school terrace in front of the manor house. This is a full Big Band (up to 9 saxes, 5 trumpets, 4 trombones and a rhythm section of drums, percussion, keys, guitar and bass) and, in terms of pure class, it certainly rivals the sound of other Big Bands in the country. Following workshops during the day, the band will also bring on some star performers (Lytchett Minster School pupils) to help the evening go with a swing. The audience are invited to picnic on the terrace while enjoying the music. Individual event tickets: Adults £5.00 and students £2.00. Band starts at 7pm.
Wednesday July 16, 2008
An evening of visual arts marks the mid-week point. Set within the wonderful facilities of our Gainsford Theatre, the evening will include an exhibition of the photographic competition (see below for more information), as well as screenings of our media students’ film work. The Gainsford Theatre is a recent addition to the school and one we are very proud of. Completed in 2004, it seats 350 people and provides the perfect setting for the exhibition. Individual event tickets: FREE. Doors open at 6 pm.
Thursday July 17, 2008
We are pleased to welcome the Cornish dance company CScape to the Gainsford Theatre. The company will perform their latest work, as well as incorporate “curtain raisers”-where students will be given the chance to dance with the company, performing work from workshops during the day. Individual event tickets: £7 for adults, and £3 for pupils. Performance starts at 7pm.
Friday July 18, 2008
The week will culminate in a performance from the highly acclaimed Tom Langham with his band “Hot Fingers”. This is an “eclectic mix of vintage acoustic string music” and they will perform in the special setting of our recently landscaped and renovated Victorian Secret Garden. Individual event tickets: £7 for adults, and £3 for pupils. The band will start at 7pm.
Photographic competition
Running alongside the festival events will be a full scale photographic competition. Whether you are 6 or 80, all entries are welcome. Sponsored by Poole camera club and Jessops of Poole, the competition will be judged at a photographic exhibition on Wednesday July 16, 2008, where the winners will receive £25 to £100 worth of photographic tokens. Entry is FREE.
Prices
This is not a profit making enterprise and the entry reflects this. The individual prices are next to each event. However, you can purchase a Festival Pass (all events): £15 for adults and £7 for pupils. There is also a family pass: 2 adults and 2 children for all the events, £34. For any enquires please do not hesitate to contact the school. We look forward to seeing you there!
